MEDIA CONTACT list for the dubois, pa area

I get asked about press contacts for our area often. Through my work with the Winkler Gallery and Art Education Center, Sunny 106, and Connect FM I've developed a list of local contacts that are worth reaching out to.

Feel free to bookmark this page and come back often to send out your press releases.

Why share this list publicly?

Well, first off, these are all available to find publicly if you look hard enough. I'm not really giving away any private information here. However, I understand how frustrating it is to build a list like this by yourself.

I want to see more publicity about local events. There is SO much going on in our area, but it's hard to get the word out. So here you go:

local Radio press contacts

Radio is still one of the best mediums to reach a wide audience. Get these stations talking about your event, and you're sure to have some new faces show up.

These are mostly organized by how active their events calendars are. Connect FM's Community Calendar is also read on air very often. I'm obviously a little biased from my work with them, but the sheer volume of events and activity speaks for itself.

Connect FM and Sunny 106 Community Calendar: Brittany Madera, news@sunny106.fm OR Submission Page
Connect FM DuBois Community Calendar

WPSU State College Community Calendar: radio.wpsu.org/community-calendar/events/create

Bigfoot Country, Clear Rock, and Pop! Contact Info: Moose Rosana moose@7mountainsmedia.com

The Hound (Laurel Media) Events Calendar: houndcountry.com/events/submit-an-event

Mega Rock in Brookville Events Calendar: Submission Page

B94 in St. Mary's Event Calendar: Submission Page

WOKW in Clearfield Press Contact: news@wokw.com

Family Life Community Calendar: Submission Page

Local TELevision contacts

Local television is a great way to reach older demographics and have the potential of being placed as a feel good story in the news. These mediums hit a wide audience like radio.

DuBois TV: Email PSA@DuBoisTV.net with a landscape PowerPoint slide.

WTAJ TV We Are Central PA: newsemail@wtajtv.com

WJAC TV: news@wjactv.com

WPSU State College Community Calendar: radio.wpsu.org/community-calendar/events/create (You don't need to submit a separate event for Radio and TV)

LOCAL PAPER AND NEWS OUTLET CONTACTS

Some of our local papers still have a good sized circulation, but more importantly they do a great job with online news. If you can provide a good contact and let them know you are available for interviews, it's possible to get a story written up about your event.

Courier Express Newspaper Contact: ehaskins@thecourierexpress.com

Gant Daily News Contact: news@gantdaily.com

The Progressive News Contact: news@theprogressnews.com

The Bradford Era Contact: marcie@bradfordera.com

The Ridgway Record Contact: editor3@zitomedia.net

Punxsutawney Spirit Contact: publisher@punxsutawneyspirit.com

DuBois electronic sign contacts

If your event is hyper-local to DuBois, then the electronic signs around town would be a good idea. You have to really boil down your message to use these well, but it's worth it to have information displayed the day of as a reminder or directions.

DuBois Boulevard Electronics Sign Contact: Email PSA@DuBOisTV.Net with a maximum of five lines, 12 characters per line. Make sure to clarify that it's for the sign and not the TV station.

Showers Field Sign* Contact: morgan@ineedmagnus.com
*Disclaimer on this one: I have never used this sign. A year of advertising on the sign is $700, so I doubt they do one-off event advertising. This could be a good value for year-round advertising though. Especially with the Small College World Series coming soon.

LOCAL TOURISM SITES

Finally, this is a list of the local tourism sites that post events. Some of these have newsletters too, which makes them doubly worth contacting. Out of all the press contacts, some of these tourism sites have been the most reliable at getting our events online in a timely fashion. Type up a good press release though! They tend to just copy and paste whatever you send them.

Explore Jefferson: news@explorejeffersonpa.com,

Explore Clarion: news@exploreclarion.com,

Visit Clearfield County: jjones@visitclearfieldcounty.org

Pennsylvania Great Outdoors: Becky@visitpago.com

I hope this list will be helpful to you! Bookmark it on your browser for easy access in the future.

Let me know if any of these contacts become outdated. You'll usually know if you receive a bounce back email. I'll do my best to keep it updated, but I'm sure from time to time I'll miss one.

Is there anyone in the area you've found to be a good media contact? Add them in the comments so we can continue to share the good news of what's going on in the area!
