There's an obvious "trick" to growing your YouTube views for free that has worked every since I joined in 2007. Now it's 2018 and I'm going to share this Fast, Free way to grow your YouTube audience and reach the people that actually want to see your videos, music, or whatever it is you're creating. Check out this playlist to grow your social media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugTBu... I joined YouTube in 2017 and used the platform to develop as a video editor and digital marketer. It’s interesting because some of the trends that used to work to get more views online have come and gone but there is one that has consistently worked. You might wonder why I am even talking about this, because my channel doesn’t have a ton of views. A few of my older videos have a little over a million or a couple hundred thousand, depending on what channels they are on, but I’ve consistently been reaching under 1,000 views for quite awhile. My most popular video recently was a video essay on the movie Arrival which hit 20k in the first couple of weeks and has since trailed off. There’s two reasons for my low performance. I’ll talk about those at the end of the video, but this is enough about me.
Time to get down to the strategy that will get YOU more views in 2018 and beyond. Be more relevant. Obvious right? Well test it out and see how well it works. I don’t mean talk about things in the general discussion right now. Be so relevant that you’re making videos about things that happened today or yesterday. Three days and you’re already way behind. A week later and you might as well forget it. What does this mean specifically? Let’s use movies and music as a specific example. The top performing videos I’ve made were released the day of a new trailer, music video, or movie. These videos can be as simple as a reaction video (which is how I recommend you get started, because they are the easiest to make) or as complicated as an in-depth analysis video essay. To do reaction videos, the process is pretty simple. Give yourself enough time that you’ll be able to film, edit, and upload the video all in a few hours. Go online to YouTube and check the Trending Tab. See what the newest things ranking high on the trending tab are that relate to your subject matter. For movies, the best place to go is to IMDB and go to the trailer tab. Click to sort the trailers by most recent and react to a trailer that was released today. The more recent the better. To see an example of this, check out our reaction to Ghost in the Shell Trailer or the Watsky - Going Down Music Video. Both of these videos (as well as any hyper-timely videos you’ll find on any of the channels I work with far outperform the rest. Imagine if that was the only type of video content you were making. Want to know how to shoot, edit, and download the footage for videos like that? Check out my video on “How To Make a Reaction Video” for the technical details on how to pull this strategy off. Why am I not making these videos? There’s two reasons, I told you’d I would come back to: The first and most important one is that I have no consistency. It’s clear online that consistency is everything. Every time I’ve spent a month or so releasing 3-7 videos a week, my views start to climb. Depending on the subject matter, it can be a pretty sharp incline. The second reason is that I’m not making videos for views anymore. I’m knowingly making videos that aren’t in subjects people are looking for. Why? This isn’t a career for me. This doesn’t even support my career. Videos on this channel have had two purposes: Talk about something that is on my mind OR help someone out with a specific problem (technical or philosophical). It’s just not a priority for me right now to get a lot of views on YouTube or elsewhere. I’m about to start making content geared towards small business owners trying to use digital marketing to grow their businesses as part of the content strategy for the company I work for, Priority Digital Services. These videos will likely follow more of a “practice what I preach” approach than anything you’ll ever see on this channel. Check out some of the other videos in this playlist if you’re looking to grow your footprint online.
