As the host of a podcast myself and producer of a few others, understanding listeners is a constant rabbit hole.
There are a lot of blogs and videos out there that will tell you a million ways to attract more listeners to your podcast show. The problem is, a lot of them are referencing what has worked for them years ago... or worse a keyword that will help their video rank on YouTube. What we're going to do in this post (and the video if you prefer that format) is take a dive into some real data and statistics about how people discover new podcasts in 2020.

- Excerpt from Be Patient, Be Present, Be Joyful: A First-Aid Kit for the Emotional Bumps, Scrapes, and Bruises of Life by Ryan Stanley. Ryan was recently a guest on the Happy You Are Here podcast. His energy and enthusiasm for topics of creating a joyful life were incredibly inspiring. If you like podcasts, I highly recommend listening to the episode in the video below. If you prefer to read, pick up his book (the print version or the free PDF version) on his website. Keywords are... dare we say "key" to understanding how people find your website and see your online ads. One of the most cost effective strategies for financial advisors to reach new clients is search engine optimization (SEO). This can be done yourself, by your webmaster, or a specialized marketing agency.
Creating content (blog posts or landing pages) that are targeted towards these keywords or long-tail variations on these keywords will bring you more clients than posting on Facebook or Twitter IF you do it right. *not even an email required ;) As a financial advisor, digital marketing can be a minefield of compliance issues. Advice you may receive from a marketing agency or various sites like Neil Patel do not consider the penalties you could run into if you use some of their tactics. One of the big issues we often run into while working on SEO for Financial Advisors is the grey area that exists around reviews. When we're talking the most popular search engine in the world (Google), the main concern is Google My Business reviews. Are you allowed to receive reviews on Google as a financial advisor?
The answer is, as usual, it depends. |
